Daughter wanted to order these since she got money from Nanna. I'm a watercolor artist myself, but I use various different mediums for watercolor... such as brushes, colored pencils, pans, disc, tubes, etc... I prefer pans but I do have a tombow set I love for calligraphy and watercoloring anime along with fw acrylic inks. Winsor and Newton drawing inks... I must say for a 13 year old who had this pens maybe 5 mins she was already making a colorpallette. Also it came with 2 different brushes which were a different size but not by too much.. both round tips. But felt durable and not cheap. The 1st pic she mainly used the markers without the brush... the 2nd picture I got her real watercolor paper and a picture that just needed to be filled in so she did not draw the 2nd one but she did color it all and you can see she made happy mistakes as Bob Ross would say but she use a Sakura gold pen the leaked paint everytime she pushed down but the background came out great using these markers and some water... she's also done some cool characters so this set DOES have skin tones.... but you will have to dilute some colors allot to get what you need. Heck I tried for 5 mins and gave up but my 13 year old daughter made a lovely spectrum of all portrait colors one would need. This set has all you need to make super bright vivid colors or more relaxed earth tones. I had bought her a few tombow packs... like 6 of them and she didn't like them. But she LOVES these.... so to each their own. She's doing great things with her artwork and even with my vast set of markers, colors, special "professional" brands. She enjoys the stuff no one would think her pieces were made from these pens.
