Gesso, paint, water colors, colored markers, you name it, this makes your art look better and holds up to all the heavy stuff. It's a good weight with a nice texture to it and it takes color beautifully! The spiral binding is well done and it does lay flat without a problem when you are working. Great product. size : 10*7.6 inches 22/02/2021I LOVE This Pad For Colored PencilsI originally got this for a sketch book, but I was amazed when I grabbed it to swatch some colored pencils with in labels. This book is fabulous!
HOW THIS ARRIVES
This comes shrink wrapped so if the box gets left in the rain it won't get wet.
PAGES
The pages have some texture, but not too much. They are thick too.
COLORED PENCILS
I am amazed at how well this will accept colored pencil. Most paper does not do that well with them, but this paper is perfect for them. I can even use solvents on it successfully to blend the pencils.
INKS
I used thin markers on this with the colored pencil and it did not soak through. When I used alcohol markers, however, it did soak through, although not as bad as some pads.
WATERCOLOR
These pages accepted watercolor beautifully too. There was minimal wrinkling and warping, although I did not put a lot of washes on this paper with heavy water on them.
PAGES
The pages do tear out if you want to use them as paintings or drawings to frame, but they are not so fragile that they start to come out right away.
SMEAR GUARD
I am thrilled that this comes with a smear guard- a clear plastic sheet that you use to keep your hands from ruining pencil work. I plan on trying to figure out a way to make an envelope or elastic stay to keep it in the book so it does not fall out if you drop the book.
THE BOTTOM LINE
This is a great pad for various mixed media. It takes some abuse, is a great size, and is much more versatile than I thought it would be. I am using it for a swatch book due to durability.
MY RATING
FIVE STARS. I plan to get more of these. I am really happy with this. I have gotten other mixed media pads that were not as durable as this one is.

I have gotten him plain paper pads and he wanted a REAL drawing pad so I got him this. He loves it. It is not to big or too small and he can fit it in his drawing backpack where he keeps all his drawings. size : 10*7.6 inches 08/01/2021Nice study padThis is a pad of mixed media paper with a spiral binding. The paper is acid-free, 120 lb, pure white. Each sheet measures 7”x9 7/8” after the perforations. The binding is double metal spiral binding. In the pad, you get 62 sheets plus a loose plastic sheet to protect other pages while you are drawing or painting. The cover is heavy cardstock. The back is thick boxboard.
I like the color of this paper a lot. Some of the other papers that I have tried lately have been lavender or gray-blue. This paper is proper pure white. It has a light tooth and can hold water well, so I am able to use it for watercolor paintings without too much curling. I am taking a beginning painting class and finding that I need to practice, practice, practice because my skill level is so low. This pad has the paper that I need to do that practice. It’s great the pages are bound with the metal binding so I can leave my study pieces in the pad for future reference. And when I finish a piece that I actually like well enough to hang, I can detach it from the pad and frame it. Overall, this mixed media pad is a step above many others I have tried lately.Helpful？ (0) -
